Mr. Bast is president of The Heartland Institute, a 27-year-old national nonprofit organization with offices in Chicago and Washington DC. Mr. Bast is the coauthor or editor of 15 books, including “Why We Spend Too Much on Health Care,” “Education and Capitalism,” “Climate Change Reconsidered,” and “The Patriot’s Toolbox.” He is the founding publisher of six monthly public policy newspapers sent to the nation’s national, state, and local elected officials. His writing has appeared in many publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, The Cato Journal and USA Today.
